You got an RFE. Now what?
A Request for Evidence is not a denial. How to read it, respond, and log it for others.
Read the whole notice
USCIS lists exactly what is missing or unconvincing. Most RFEs ask for one of three things: documents that were missing, documents that have expired (medical exam, passport), or stronger proof of a specific legal element.
Respond once, completely
You get one response. Include a cover letter that maps every item requested to a tab in your packet. Send it tracked, well before the deadline printed on the notice.Log it
On your Visaline case, add the "RFE received" milestone with the date, then "RFE response sent". Your cohort's RFE rate and the average delay an RFE adds are computed from these entries, so the community gets more accurate every time someone logs one. This guide is general information, not legal advice. For your own case, talk to a licensed immigration attorney.
